Thursday, May 29, 2003 Tonight: Melting Vinyl presents the New York Anti-Folk Tour - Herman Dune, Matt Mason USA, Jeffrey Lewis & Misty's Big Adventure. 8pm @ The Freebutt, £6/£5.
Wednesday, May 28, 2003 Tonight: Get Involved - mixed-up media with Geoff Smith (hammer dulcimer & V-drum virtuoso), Chimp, The Matzo Boys, visuals, spoken word from Samizdat, & the Get Involved DJs @ the Hanbury Ballroom, 9pm, £3. I have to agree with Norman Baker about 4x4 vehicles. There are several parked near my house, and by the look of them the nearest they've ever got to 'offroad' is riding halfway up the kerb and obstructing the pavement. The fact that one of them has a number plate reading 'BI9 CUM' also suggests not so much 'sports utility' as 'complete twat'. OK, I wouldn't go so far as to BAN them from built-up areas, but if you choose to drive in a city - and for the majority, it IS a choice not a necessity - you are part of a problem and should take steps to minimise the environmental impact, not increase it in the name of fashion or 'convenience'. posted by Archel | 09:00Tuesday, May 27, 2003 Tonight: Howling At The Moon rises again, phoenix-like, from the ashes of the Festival. 8pm @ The Full Moon in Boyces Street. It's all over. Brighton residents can once more walk the streets without encountering stilt walkers or giant paper mache seahorses. But there's fallout: when is a Fringe not a Fringe? I confidently expect further complications in the fight for all that's not mainstream next year, with the appearance of the Real Fringe and perhaps the Fringe That Is So Fringe It's Fallen Into The Sea... posted by Archel | 09:54 |
